    2. I have relegated elderberry to a "Black Box Warning 2", on the COVID-19 Running Notes page (link above). (Even though at this time I don't agree with the premise for scientific reasons, but as always pending more science, err on the side of caution). Thanks for the heads up.

  2. Does this mean if they objects are not appropriately cleaned that is how long the virus lives on those surfaces?

  3. Is viral load a significant factor in a person's chances of catching and spreading the virus? Does being outdoors significantly reduce the viral load thus making it a safer space? Thank you for summarizing the latest information for us.

    1. Sorry for delay in answering, but my comment notification setting was turned off. Argh. So if you still want to know: my intuitive immediate response would be yes it is. In the study (1.) I read: they concluded as much, but they used the number of threshold cycles as a surrogate for viral load of SARS-CoV-2 which isn't the gold standard. Therefore I'll say the Grand Jury is still out on that one. Being outdoors significantly reduces viral load, more space, more diffusion, less number and thus making it a safer space. The study (2.), which is non-peer reviewed to date, claims the odds that a primary case transmitted COVID-19 in a closed environment was 18.7 times greater compared to an open-air environment (95% confidence interval [CI]: 6.0, 57.9).
